The rules of the
54-card game

There are many games you can play with a 54-card deck. Here are some examples to keep you entertained.

Number : 2 players

Objective of the game : To win all the cards in the deck.

Game setup : Remove the Jokers from the deck and shuffle. Deal the 52 cards face down to the 2 players. They must not look at them.

Gameplay : At the same time, players draw the top card from their deck and place it face up on the table.

The one with the strongest card collects them.

Note: The Ace is the highest card, then the King, the Queen, the Jack, the 10…

When players simultaneously play two cards of the same value, it's called a "War." In this case, the players draw the next card and place it face down on top of the previous card. Then, they draw a second card and place it face up. The player with the highest value wins all the played cards.

Number of players: 2 or more

Objective of the game : To get rid of all your cards.

Game preparation : Shuffle the deck of cards and then deal 7 cards to each player.

Gameplay : The youngest player places a card face up and announces the color of their card (club, heart, diamond or spade).

The next player then places a card face down on top of the previous one, announcing the same suit. One after another, the players place their card face down on the pile and announce the suit requested.

When a player believes the color announced by the person who just played their card is incorrect, they must say "Liar" aloud. The person must then reveal their card

  • If the color is wrong, the liar collects all the cards piled up in the center of the table.
  • If the color is correct, the person who made the accusation collects all the cards from the pile.

Note: when the card has been covered by another, you can no longer be accused.

Number of players: 2 or more

Objective of the game : To get rid of all your cards or to have at least a score of 5.

Game setup : Shuffle the deck of cards and deal 4 cards face down to each player. Each player looks at 2 cards and places them face up in front of them, remembering where they are on the table. The remaining cards are placed face down as the draw pile.

Gameplay : Each turn, the player draws a card, looks at it, and chooses:

  • either to reject it
  • or to exchange it for one of his cards

When a card is discarded face up, players can discard any cards of the same suit they have in their hand (e.g., an ace, a five, a king, etc.). But be careful not to make a mistake when retrieving it from your hand. If a player makes a mistake, they take a card from their hand, face down, without looking at it.

When a player has no more cards or thinks they have a total of 5 or less, they shout "Cactus!" One last round is played before everyone reveals their cards.

The one with the fewest points wins.

Specifics : When a card is drawn, some have special powers:

  • A 7 allows you to look at one of your cards
  • An 8 allows you to look at one of an opponent's cards
  • A Jack allows you to exchange one of your cards with one of your opponent's cards.
  • The red kings are worth zero points
